It’s hard to resist doom scrolling and not getting sucked into the latest catastrophic event. I don’t know about you, but the last 4 weeks have been overwhelming.
I’m reevaluating how I spend my time on social apps and paying attention to the news. Today’s media and newscycle is not meant to keep us informed. It’s designed to keep us numb, spending money on shit we don’t need.
The monopoly of social media networks, corporations, and news channels are pawns of reckless convenience capitalism. It’s heartbreaking and horrifying to watch this collapse, especially since my early career was built on public relations, journalism, and social media.
Maybe it’s because I’m older and give less f*cks. Or perhaps I’m smoking too much w**d and becoming a burnout, like the reefer madness articles warn us about. But I suspect it’s always been like this, I’m just seeing it more clearly now. Between the bøng rips and self-reflection, I came to a realization.
Are we just going back to doomscrolling TikTok, IG, Threads, FB Marketplace, and buying more things we don’t need from Amazon and Target like the last 30 days didn’t happen?
F*ck no. No more. I’m tuning it out and spending less time consuming their bullshit and giving them my time, money, and energy. Pertinent information finds its way to me in its own time anyway.
Turned off notifications. Put social apps into a hidden folder to make it 3-steps harder to open. Deleted the news apps. Breaking up with capitalism.
I’m intentionally spending more time creating content here, cultivating my urban homesteading skills, and focusing on my local community.

Edible Review: Crispy Marshmellow Bar
EXCEPT FROM MY BUDIST REVIEW:
💮 Satisfactory but not satisfying.
Sweet, sugary, nostalgic treats from Scratch Baked, infused with Liquid Diamonds, a highly processed and potent form of c*nn*bis concentrate that’s popular for vaping. There’s nothing better than the smell of butter and melted marshmallows.
Sweet, buttery, with an artificial note from the corn syrup and preservatives. Zero cannabis flavor or bitter aftertaste. It's a good, standard packaged treat that will taste familiar and appeal to most. Crispy, chewy, exactly as it should be. The rainbow sprinkles give a crunchier texture mid-chew that’s to be expected.
Everything about this edible is satisfactory and basic from ingredients to the high. The crispy treat itself tastes good and exactly what you’d expect. I’m very high but the quality of my high isn’t satisfying. There’s a soul that’s missing from both.
Make elevated krispy treats at home. Try my recipe for my famous F-Yea! Bars, because you’re gonna say, “oh f*ck yea!” after you taste them.
🫖 What’s the missing soul?
The quality of the high and the taste was just meh. It’s perfectly fine and acceptable, but not something that I’m going to crave and seek out. Especially when making my own at home is easy – melt butter and marshmallows, stir in cereal, and pour into pan.
Cornerstone Wellness recently started carrying Big Pete’s new infused Crispy Marshmallow Treat that’s made with whole plant c*nn*butter, just like their cookies. I got to sample them and WOW! The flavor and strain-specific high both surprised and surpassed my overly-critical and discerning edible expectations.
Ingredients matter. The food ingredients are the same with only slight recipe variation. The difference is the quality and complexity of the c*nn*bis.

Now is a good time to start planning for your spring planting season. Pick what you’re going to grow in your garden and start gathering seeds. I’m dreaming of spring peas, radishes, rhubarb, basil, and beans.
Growing your own food and medicine is a form of protest. It’s too early to start outdoor w**d seeds. Mulch your garden with leaves and debris to prep the beds. Spread handfuls of nasturtium seeds around before it rains for a beautiful display of vibrant colors with edible flowers and leaves come spring.
