The biggest annual stoner holiday is upon us and April 20, 2024 is a palindrome year. Must be a lucky year, make a wish! I’m wishing for federal legalization or at least the passage of a Safer Banking Act to ease us into the future.
Prohibition isn’t over: Despite being legal in 40 states, c*nn*bis is still categorized as a Schedule 1 dr*g in the eyes in the federal government. This causes absurd and challenging issues, especially when it comes to money and banking, of which the federal government has oversight. Censorship is a major issue. Even on this platform, as a result of those outdated laws, reporting on and writing about the topic risks losing my livelihood and ability to earn an income even though it’s a violation of freedom of speech and journalism ethics, as we learned from
’s recent harrowing ordeal. It’s incredibly difficult to inform, teach, and educate when information is being censored. I wrote in a previous post, “we don’t smoke the same.” There’s a certain stereotype when it comes to c*nn*bis and generations of negative stigma to overcome.
This Substack wine writer’s post calling a c*nn*bis executive “tools that would denigrate wine” shows a complete lack of awareness or open-mindedness about the possibilities of c*nn*bis culture.
If he could only see the two co-existing at Sunstone Winery, the rise of w**d weddings, or the magical w**d and wine country destinations that offer exactly what he says he loves about wine. I hope that by sharing the types of stories where the intersection of culinary and c*nn*bis meet, we can start to show and shape an alternative view of the plant and its benefits.
Below, find a curated list of vibe-checked events and experiences to celebrate the plant. It also happens to be Earth Day! Coincidence? I think not.

😎 My Weekend Plan
I’ll be budtending all day in my community at Cornerstone Wellness. This year will be my first time working at a retail shop on the high holiday. My colleagues tell me that it’ll be a madhouse. Good thing we’re all mad here. Cornerstone is doing deals, giveaways, and exclusives all weekend, including a chance to win a Mota bong. Come through!
I’m most excited about hosting Dr. Miyabe Shields and Chef Victor Aguilera at the Fruit + Flower House. Miyabe will join me at Cornerstone on Sunday from 10-4 p.m. to host “Ask a Stoner Scientist” with members.
Afterwards, we’re crashing the Chopped 420 Family Dinner Party with chefs Wendy Zeng, Chris Binotto, Emily Oyer, and Victor Aguilera. I love it when my communities converge in a mutually beneficial and happy way.
🫶 A Few of My Favorite Things
Sessions Cloud: designer series
Sale alert, up to 50% off! My favorite glass company released a new Cloud designer series b*ng and p*pe with gorgeous opaque milky white glass. The Sessions Glow in Dark bong is my favorite daily use piece and I am obsessed with its form and function. Plus it’s easy to clean, AND a woman-owned company.
Papers + Ink: custom rolling papers
You deserve to roll with cute papers. These 100% hemp papers with custom-printed designs spark joy. Papers + Ink x Fake Cakery are dropping a collaboration on 4/20 featuring adorable frosting rolling papers and frosting j holders. 20% off weekend flash sale, use code ECLIPSE20.
Glass Rolling Tips
I switched to glass tips and can’t look back. Just like drinking coffee from a glass mug vs. a paper cup, the smooth, clean flavor with glass tips beats a rolled-up spiral of paper any day. Reusable and easy to clean with a soak in rubbing alcohol.
Pureover Coffee Mug
Instagram went crazy over my glass pourover coffee set from Pureover Coffee. It’s a beautiful and elegant addition to any coffee lover’s morning routine.
RAGE Earrings: a High On Plants x Fruit + Flower collab
Go from daytime to rave mode with my glow-in-the-dark splatter-painted RAGE earrings. There’s a certain feeling of community and friendship when I meet another person wearing earrings from High On Plants. You know you’ve met a kindred stoner spirit.
420 Events
Your local dispensary will have deals, giveaways, and prizes galore. Stop by and support your favorite neighborhood shop to celebrate.
Weed Auntie Pro Tips:
Bring cash. ATM lines will be long. Technology will crash. Debit and credit card purchases aren’t always possible. Don’t expect Apple Pay.
Arrive early, and be patient. The busiest day of the year for most shops, get there early for the least crowds. There will likely be lines, it might take a long time. Plan accordingly.
Start low, go slow. If you’re attending parties and events, be mindful of your consumption so you don’t get too high and over-consume. Especially at infused dinners! Smoking tolerance and edibles tolerance are completely different. If you don’t know your edibles tolerance, start at 5mg T*C, or less, and wait at least 3 hours to feel full effects.
