Inside Toke & Tea
Last month, I curated a toke and tea pairing for an intimate elevated tea and flower tasting with three different flower strains from Moon Made Farms and three Chinese teas from Standstill Tea.
At Moments with Standstill, guests learned about the flower they were smoking and how it was grown from Tina of Moon Made Farms; about the tea and how it was grown and harvested from T and Weichao of Standstill Tea; and watched sweeping videos of the tea farms in China playing alongside breathtaking scenes of Moon Made Farms atop the Humboldt mountains.
Chef Wendy served tea sandwiches and snacks. I made an oolong tea infused cherry tomato Tanghulu in collaboration with Standstill, as a sweet ending. And Cornerstone Wellness hosted a popup shop.
The magical part of flavor pairing is how the nuanced flavors of each complement and bring out the best in each other. Orchestrating the effects from both flower and tea is like conducting a symphony, or DJing a crowded warehouse. It starts with a social flow and energy that’s chatty and upbeat. Shifting into a creamier lofi vibe as everyone feels more comfortable and stony in the transition. Then downshift into a relaxing, floaty state as the experience comes to an end.
Nimbus Snacks x Eastern Beauty: Spicy, woody, citrus notes with a chatty brightening effect, paired with ripe plum, cloves, and muscat scented Oolong.
Apples & Bananas x Gui Fei Oolong: Apple, banana, and pear smoothie with a creamy lofi high, paired with lightly roasted stone fruit, apricots, almond, and rose notes.
God's Breath. X Cellar Aged Raw Pu'er: Reminiscent of a geriatric wizard's stanky breath with eau de fermented fruit takes your body into a relaxed flow state, paired with notes of plum candy, orange peel, and blunt smoke 5 year aged Pu'er.
The teas and flower pairings are available at Cornerstone Wellness in Northeast Los Angeles.

Edible Review: Caffeine & Kush
EXCERPT FROM BUDIST
💮 Unique, rare, and exquisite. A fast-moving Sativa rollercoaster high. Go do something physical and creative.
These Mocha artisanal cold water hash capsules are filled with organic Peruvian expression, organic Caribbean cocoa, coconut cream, and Quantum Kush Sativa cold water hash made by Fire King.
This 10mg THC mocha pill is taking me to a place beyond the red and the blue pill into an iridescent, sunshine and music-filled world. My heart beats faster and harder as the high intensifies from the dopamine and serotonin inducing combo of caffeine and c*nn*bis. I’m on a cold water hash rollercoaster ride and I like it. The secret is letting go and accepting that this is the ride I’m on for the next few hours.
Not for the faint of heart or those prone to anxiety.

It’s September! If you’ve been growing outdoors, it’s harvest season. Depending on your sunlight conditions and growing zone, your plants may be ready to harvest – sometime between now and end-of-October here in Southern California.
How do you know when it’s ready?
It looks like the photo above.
The sticky round white trichomes turn from clear to milky, cloudy white.
The pointy pistils turn from white/translucent to red/orange.
Ideally, harvest on the full moon – September 17 or October 17
Two free harvesting workshops with Grow It From Home:

9/21 from 5-6pm: Latinx with Plants | East Los Angeles

First photo is my mom’s first c*nn*bis plant. It was neglected… Second photo is my friend Colleen’s plant. She did much better than my mom. Her plants got proper soil nutrition, consistent water, and full all day sun.
