Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as Moon Festival, is celebrated by many Asian cultures, including Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Singaporean, Filipino, Cambodian, Vietnamese, and more. Based on the legend of Chang’e the Moon Goddess of immortality in Chinese mythology, on this day the Moon is at its brightest and fullest size coinciding with harvest time. Mooncakes are traditionally eaten. Lanterns of all sizes and shapes are carried and displayed to light people’s path to prosperity and good fortune.
Last Sunday, Chef Wendy Zeng and I co-hosted a Mogu Magu Moon Festival party to celebrate the holiday with our fellow chefs, creatives, and entrepreneurs. Canna chef friends from Honolulu and Aspen came out to collab on the menu. There was mooncake tasting, movie screening and conversation around “Everything Everywhere All At Once.”

Osmanthus Tea
According to a Chinese legend, there is an osmanthus tree on the moon, and because it blooms during the Mid-Autumn Festival season its sweet fragrance is the best flower for people to appreciate with a full moon. Hot tea service hosted by Anne Jang of Tea Talk.
