Postcard from the Emerald Triangle
Road-trippin' thru NorCal beyond the green wall into the trees 🌲
High from this beautiful af slice of California gold! Way up in north-northern California — past SF and wine country way beyond — lies the Emerald Triangle, a storied region where the world's best c*nn*bis has been cultivated for generations.
I'm on a summer road trip exploring the beauty of w**d country.
Destinations:
Sol Spirit Farm Retreat (Trinity)
Eureka/Arcata (Humboldt)
Jumbo's Win-Win (Mendocino)
Far off the beaten path, it's a 5-6 hour drive north from the SF Bay area thru windy coastal and/or mountain roads.
I'm passenger princess so I pop a Lost Farm Strawberry Pink Jesus Chews and lean the seat back into low-rider mode to enjoy the scenic golden hour drive to Sol Spirit Farm in Trinity County.
As we weave thru the golden hills and green tree tunnels, all my senses are sparkling and driving thru the forest feels like a 4D real-life multi-sensory version of a Bob Ross painting come to life. Better than any video game IMHO.
We're welcomed at Sol Spirit Retreat by Sol Spirit Farm, an elevated glamping experience at an organic, regenerative w**d farm hosted by Judi and Walter — more on this and a farm tour in an upcoming post for paid subscribers.
After a brisk swim in the Trinity River, we head for the coast to Eureka/Arcata where the famed Saturday Arcata Farmer’s Market was all sunshine, vibes, and hella good food.
People watching at the market showed the town’s diversity, quirkiness, friendliness, commitment to eco-sustainability, and activism. I find myself wanting to spend more time here.
We're here for Cannifest sharing a “Humboldt mansion” with Sonoma Hills Farm and Moon Made Farm for an epic w**d weekend slumber party.
We stopped by to visit Nasha and got a close up inside tour of their h*sh-making facility and a preview of their new 1g r*sin v*pe — an insider's tour + guide to v*pes for paid subscribers coming up soon.
As we bask in the weekend haze and reluctantly wind our way back into city life, I find myself moving at a slower, more intentional pace. But first… food!
Apparently the apple hand pies at Jumbo's Win-Win are too good, we gotta take a detour. On our way back down south to Los Angeles, our eating itinerary includes stops at:
Sea Pal Cove in Fort Bragg for the best fish and chips with a view.
Jumbo's Win-Win in Philo, CA for burgers, soft serve, and apple hand pies (Anderson Valley across from The Bohemian Chemist)
Gowan's Cider Orchard for apple cider frosé in Philo, CA
Jalgalchi in Daly City/SF to explore this new modern Korean market.
Our buds at Sonoma Hills Farm dropped a new collab with rapper singer Pawpaw Rod, debuting this weekend at Cannifest.
Ask me later what it was like to enjoy his favorite custom prer*ll (OG Kush x Blueberry) while dancing to his music performed live at a family-friendly all-ages welcome c*nn*bis festival.
The roads are paved, it's safe, and while it feels so far away and unreachable the scenic drive and hospitality are well worth the travel effort.
I'll share a travel itinerary to help you explore and find these hidden gems. Check out my previous Travel posts for more destinations.
XOXO, Christina W.
I’m so ready for the Doobie Mouth!
Lovely recap and now I have serious Cannifest FOMO. I need to make it up there next year!
