I groaned and pulled the blankets over my head and sank into the soft, dark folds of despair, wishing I was a groundhog that could go back underground to hibernate until the next four years are over.
I’m trying to remind myself to not get lost worrying about the things I can’t control, and focus on what I can do. Here’s your reminder to not get stuck in a pit of fear and despair.
Find moments of joy and laughter. Turn rage, anger, fear, sadness into art. Put the phone down, stop doom scrolling. Get out from behind the screen and participate in your community. Create and experience radical acts of joy.

Rage Portraits
Pouring my emotions into art and storytelling is how I cope. In my August 2024 post “Turning Rage Into Joy” I shared about the Rage Brunch I co-hosted with Canna Boss Babe. A group of women c*nn*bis creators and influencers decorated their own Rage Cakes and were invited to have blacklight portraits taken while wearing a pair of Rage Earrings. These are their Rage portraits.

Wow. Seeing everyone shine so radiant, real, and raw while wearing RAGE earrings makes my heart beam with joy. My Rage Cake project has healed my broken heart 10x over and given me so much more love and joy than I could have ever anticipated.
See the RAGE earrings collaboration with High On Plants.

You’ve dried your stalks, the flowers are dry, now what? Curing.
Proper curing preserves the potency and flavor, improves shelf life and brings out the flavors and aromas of your flower. Curing means placing the buds in a dark, sealed container for 3-4 weeks, occasionally opening it to “burp” or air out the jar every couple days.
When your buds are dry but still have a slightly spongy sticky squish between your fingers, you can trim the buds into jars. Open the jars every few days and let it breath to release any excess moisture to prevent mold.
The cured flower will be ready to enjoy in ~3-4 weeks. A longer cure can bring out more complex aromas. Keep your jars in a cool, dark place away from sunlight for best preservation.
If you’re growing outdoors, now is the time to throw all the sticks, trimmings, and leaf mulch onto the garden beds and let it compost into nutrient-rich soil for spring planting. You can plant a cover crop like legumes, peas, clover, buckwheat, rye, or oat to help enrich the soil.
The plants that did the best this season were two plants left in a hot, sun-baked corner of the garden and mostly neglected and left to die until one day I walked by and noticed it smelled AMAZING. Of course it was covered in caterpillars because it’s so delicious and aromatic. I did my best to pick them off and save what I could. I have one precious jar of Jelly Donutz and Hulk that will be ready to taste in a week or two.
If you came to Flower Rave and took home a stalk, you got a cut of Maui Wowie.
