Rewriting Her.Stories
Postcard from Big Bear 🐻 Planning. plotting. scheming. dreaming up Bad Asians Vol. 2: Stoned Philosophy Club
Two hours from Los Angeles up a winding mountain road to Magu’s cabin in the woods we went. Taking the long, lingering path through Rowland Heights with stops for Asian groceries and lobster noods.
I spent the weekend on a creative retreat at a cabin in the mountains with three baddie women (a chef, content queen, and booty-shakin’ DJ), where we locked in on plans for the next Mogu Magu event on April 18 – Bad Asians: Stoned Philosophy Club.

36 Hours in Big Bear
Put four highly productive, aligned chronic overachievers in a room and 💥✨️. It’s the only way I want to work IMHO. Deeply healing, cathartic, prolific, and joyful.
Ya know we’re gonna eat good. Chef Wendy’s slow-cooked bone broth congee with jammy eggs, lightly seared salmon spring rolls with lettuce from my garden, hand-wrapped silky smooth wontons tossed in spicy chili oil, soft squishy steamed buns, Peach Oolong Oreos, and hella Moon Made. 👁️ Rainbow Breeze. The same cultivar and plant we harvested together in October. From farm to creative ideation, this was a truly full circle moment and arguably the purest and most beautiful expression of the feminine flower we love so much.
Food + w**d + philosophy. The assignment: making critical thinking sexy again.
In honor of Women’s History Month
Resident stoned philosopher Roxanne Roncal posed the question “Who writes history? And how do we reclaim it?”
I ponder:
Who writes history? His.Story is written by the victors
And how do we reclaim it? Her.Stories recovers, validates, and elevates marginalized narratives
“Herstory” is a term coined in 1968 by Robin Morgan referring to history written from a feminist perspective, focusing on women’s experiences and contributions frequently omitted from traditional, male-centered narratives (history).
How have women been portrayed in history?
Who/what’s been erased or omitted?
How are women considered and treated today?
School taught us to memorize and repeat facts. Binary answers. Heroes and villains. Savior complex and victims. Male and female. Black and white. We’ve learned to value a single source of truth (determined by who?), rather than stretching our ability to hold multiple truths.
History isn’t a static record, it’s a dialogue in motion, ever-changing and influenced by new information. We aren’t just reading the past, we’re the authors of the future, sowing the ideas that will define future history.
What seeds will you plant?

Spring has sprung and it’s time to start seeds. When you see tomatoes available at your local plant nursery, that’s the time to start your c*nn*bis seeds in a small pot of soil, Solo cup, or seedling tray.
I like to put my seeds directly into the soil and water. Soaking and the paper towel method to start seeds is not a necessary first step. It simply helps to see and ensure seed germination. You can skip this step and put directly into the dirt, but if you enjoy the science of growing plants it’s neat to see the root radicle pop out from the shell.

Trendspotting at Hall of Flowers, the industry exclusive B2B show, on what’s new and upcoming in the world of California c*nn*bis. 2024 festival was a culinary delight, and last year’s performance art gone wrong was disturbing and cringe.
