Recipe: Violet Drink, a.k.a Lavender Haze
Starbucks’ secret purple drink, but make it cannabis-infused
Let’s make a refreshing summer drink — how about the Violet Drink from Starbucks’ secret menu? Also known as a Lavender Haze because of Taylor Swift’s song.
“The sweet blackberries and tart hibiscus flavor of our Very Berry Hibiscus Starbucks Refreshers® beverage swirl together with creamy coconut milk and ice, creating refreshing (and violet-hued!) sips.”
The strain pairing that immediately came to mind is Purple Haze, naturally, for its dreamy burst of euphoria that awakens creativity made popular by Jimi Hendrix. Alternatively, strains high in linalool or limonene will complement the creamy lavender and blackberry flavors.
Let’s recreate a *catnipped* version with cannabis-infused coconut milk. Scroll all the way down for alternate ways to infuse this drink.

A refreshing iced tea drink made with weed-infused coconut milk, hibiscus berry tea, lavender vanilla simple syrup, and blackberries. Inspired by Starbucks secret Violet Drink.
DOSING:
Makes 2 drinks. Double-check the math if your % THC is different.
Low Dose // 5mg THC per serving: You’ll need a total of 10mg THC in the entire recipe. Approximately 0.1 grams of ~20% THC cannabis flower.*
High Dose // 100mg THC per serving: You’ll need a total of 200mg THC in the entire recipe. Approximately 1.45 grams of ~20% THC cannabis flower.*
INGREDIENTS:
1 ½ cups Tazo Passion Tea, chilled (substitute with hibiscus or berry tea)
1 cup cannabis-infused coconut milk
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons lavender simple syrup
¼ cup blackberry puree
Lavender Simple Syrup
½ cup sugar
½ cup hot water
1 tablespoon dried lavender flowers
DIRECTIONS:
1. Make Cannamilk*: Preheat the oven to 240°F. Place coarsely ground cannabis flower into a pint-sized 16 oz. mason jar, seal with the lid to reduce smell, and heat for 40 minutes in the oven to decarboxlyate, which activates the THC. Remove from the oven and let cool until the mason jar is safe to touch. The ground flower will look lightly toasted.
Pour coconut milk and decarbed cannabis into the mason jar, close the lid, and shake to combine. Reduce oven temperature to 160 degrees F and place into the oven to infuse for 2 to 2.5 hours. If your oven temp does not have a low setting, try this alternative method:
Stovetop water bath method for low temp infusion: Fill a medium-large pot halfway to ¾ full with water and bring the water to a light boil. Reduce the heat to low to simmer the water. Drop a small metal mason jar ring to the bottom of the pot and place the mason jar filled with coconut milk into the water to sit on top of the ring. Avoid the bottom of the glass jar from touching the bottom of the pot and keep the water line around the same level as the milk inside the jar. Place the lid on top. Allow the mason jar to simmer in the water bath to infuse for 2 to 2.5 hours. Add more water as the water level reduces from evaporation.
After 2.5 hours, remove and cool until the mason jar is safe to touch. Strain the coconut milk through a fine mesh sieve and into a clean container to cool to room temp or chill until ready to use. Discard the cannabis grounds.
2. Steep tea: Steep 2 tea bags in 1½ cups of hot water for 4-5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and cool to room temp. Chill and refrigerate until ready to use.
3. Make Lavender Simple Syrup: In a small glass jar combine ½ cup sugar, ½ cup hot water, and dried lavender flowers. Stir to combine and melt the sugar into the liquid. Cover and let steep until room temperature. Strain out the lavender flowers and store until ready to use.
4. Make drink: In a shaker or tall glass with ice, combine ¾ cup passion tea with ½ cup coconut milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon lavender simple syrup, and 2 tablespoons of blackberry puree. Shake to stir to combine.
