“I came across your blog about cannabis for focus and so excited to try it! Your girl is strug-ga-ling lately.”
Is anyone else feeling like they’re strug-ga-ling?
Between the heatwaves, writer’s strike, layoffs, and California cannabis industry hanging on by a thread it’s a slow summer. I feel a collective anxiousness about our livelihoods and what the future holds. Let’s remind ourselves to be patient and kind to ourselves and the people around us.
This summer I’m focused on finding my zen and maintaining peace, which leads me to an exciting bit of news!
I recently started a budtending job as a “wellness consultant” at Cornerstone Wellness, a long-standing cannabis dispensary with a stellar reputation that carries the widest variety of sun-grown flower in Los Angeles. Originally opened as a medical cannabis collective, I’ve long admired them for their knowledgeable staff and medical expertise. I’m thrilled to join their crew!
The good news for you: I’ll have an even deeper inside look into new product drops, ❤️🔥 cannabis flower, excellent deals, and science-backed medical cannabis knowledge.
In this issue, I’ll spill the tea on a brand-spanking new product you’re gonna go crazy over, and share my picks for sun-grown flower you can get right now. Plus, a very VERY exciting announcement about a passion project I’ve been working on.

Introducing The Clever Root
SPONSORED BY WEEDAY
Clean glass is happy glass 🫧
On bong bath days, I give mine a few vigorous shakes with rubbing alcohol and coarse salt which usually does the job. It can be difficult getting all the resin bits out of the nooks and crannies, and impossible to get a sponge inside. What’s a clean freak to do?
Icky resin-coated glass needs a good scrubbing between seshes to enjoy the cleanest cannabis flavors and aromas, while not inhaling residue. Cleaning glass can feel more like a chore than a joy when you’ve got a big bong and a tiny sink.
But wouldn’t it be cool if there was an easy-cleaning, dishwasher-safe bong? Ta-da! This beautifully designed modular bong from Weeday twists apart for effortless cleaning. Created by two friends out of concern for the one with a very dirty bong, Weeday comes with a colorful array of detachable silicone covers that you can mix and match your style.
Friends don't let friends 🌬 out of dirty glass. More info at getweeday.com and @getweeday. First 100 buyers get 20% off.
A Little Birdy Told Me…
Camino fans this one’s for you. Just like the taffy, Starburst-like square chews from Kiva’s Lost Farm brand, it looks like a Camino chew is coming soon!
This is exciting for several reasons:
Flavor: I LOVE the Lost Farm chews! The texture, flavors, everything about them.
Low-Dose: I suspect dosing will be like their popular Camino gummies at 5mg THC per gummy.
Convenience: Wrapped in tiny squares of wax paper, it’s easy to toss a few in my purse or bag without bringing the entire tin.
No Melting: Have you ever left a tin of gummies in the car to find a melted, stuck-together goo of gummies? These chews aren’t going to melt together.
No public official announcement from Kiva has been shared on social or press yet. So let’s consider this bit of gossip: well-informed tea.
If you haven’t tried the strain-specific Lost Farms chews yet, I HIGH-ly recommend them!
SUN-GROWN SERIES
Pick Me: Sun-Grown Flower
Cornerstone carries products from a few of my favorite sun-grown farmers including Moon Made Farms, Sol Spirit Farms, Emerald Spirit Botanicals that are an absolute steal of a deal. An eighth of high-quality, amazing sun-grown cannabis flower for under $30!!! They offer online ordering for delivery and pickup or stop by the shop in Eagle Rock to chat with a consultant.
TheWoods in West Hollywood also carries a variety of sun-grown flower, that you can enjoy in their vibey outdoor Giggle Garden and consumption lounge.
My other favorite dispensary Solful in Northern California with locations in Sebastopol, Santa Rosa, and San Francisco also carries a wide variety of sun-grown flower.
Strain Effects Key:
☀️ uplifting, energizing, daytime
🌤️ balanced, focused, relaxed
🌙 relaxing, calming, nighttime
Sun-grown flower I’m excited about that’s available now:
Whitethorn Rose ☀️ // Redwood Roots, grown by Huckleberry Hill Farms
Bright, daytime flower with a smooth body buzz and happy good mood.
Pink Boost Goddess ☀️ // Farm Cut, grown by Emerald Spirit Botanicals
Emerald Cup first place winner, this sweet cream and strawberry-rosewood scented flower has low THC and a high amount of THCV, which is helpful for focus and as an appetite suppressant.
Georgia Pie ☀️ // Martyjuana
An intense body and head high for a state of happiness and euphoria that’s tingly and hazy. Smells and tastes like fresh peach cobbler with a hint of cherries.
Blue Dream 🌤️ // Mendocino Natural Farms
Described as a perfect hybrid for its balanced cerebral stimulation and body relaxation that makes you feel like you’re floating on a cloud. The flower currently in jars are so dense with trichomes that there’s a generous dusting of kief at the bottom of the jar! 👀
Royal Blueberry 1:1 🌤️ // Farm Cut
An extremely limited high CBD flower with a floral blueberry aroma that’s a cross between Blueberry Muffin and Rose Queen (a sister of Harmony Rose). If you’re looking for something comparable to the Blueberry Cupcake and Blueberry Jam strains featured in recent recipes
Sugar Plum Goo 🌙 // Sunbright Gardens
The essence of candy grapes intertwined with plum blossom. Tests very high terpenes, above 2%, which means it’s bursting with juicy flavor and aromas.
Want more picks? Ask a budtender a.k.a. me!

A Food Lover’s Guide to Modern Cannabis
Introducing The Clever Root, the food lover’s guide to modern cannabis – my passion project with Rachel Burkons @smokesipsavor launches this Monday.
We explore the intersection where cannabis meets culinary; celebrate the people, places, and products that are moving cannabis forward; and tell their stories in new and normalizing ways at the center of the dining table.
“As part of the team that originally launched The Clever Root print magazine nearly eight years ago, I’ve long known that there’s a true connection between food, drink, and cannabis. And while The Clever Root in its original form shuttered in 2018, our team has been busy exploring the exciting world of culinary cannabis, beverages, and hospitality ever since. We are proud to share what we’ve learned, tasted, and tested along the way!”
- Rachel Burkons, Publisher + Editor-in-Chief
A few stories I’m excited about publishing this week:
We tested five different infusion methods and sent them to a lab to find the definitively best, most effective Best Ever Weed Butter.
Stoner Scientist Miyabe Shields PhD shares her deeply personal story of how planting and harvesting garlic helped sprout a new, therapeutic life and passion in food and farming as medicine. And shares what garlic can teach us about cannabis.
We share the results and a peek behind the scenes of the inaugural High Spirits Awards, the first-ever cannabis beverage competition.
Mainstream media isn’t covering these topics, so we’re creating this space for people who love good food and great weed. Welcome to our table! Come hungry, and pull up a seat. Join the email list, bookmark thecleverroot.com, and follow @thecleverroot on IG.
Are you a chef, writer, or brand with a great story to tell? Drop me a line and let’s work together.
Leelaberry has settled into her new home with Beazy Farms and has chosen her new flock! She’s made friends with a mellow, older flock of hens who seem more her speed these days. And she’s growing new itty bitty tail feathers.
As for the abandoned chicken coop, I’m going to transform the area into a wild bird village and creature way station with native flowers and plants, where the birds, bees, butterflies, and wild creatures can rest, make their homes, and find water during the hot summer days. It’ll feel nice to have that area chirping and buzzing with life again.
XOXO, Christina W.
