Blue Dream is Back

🦋 Inside the dreamy tasting event + a fresh 4/20 edition event list
1

Blue Dream defined an era in classic California stoner culture and was a first love for many. It might not hype right now, but from 2003 to present day, it continues to be one of the most popular cultivars that carries a sense of nostalgia and familiar comfort.

Popularity peaked in the mid-2000s and has slowly waned over time in favor of gelatos, biscottis, and candiez strains. Finding a real and truly authentic cut of Blue Dream is hard to come by. It became so popular that dupes were everywhere, everything labeled Blue Dream but lacked its distinctive flavors, aromas, and effects. Aficionados are in a never-ending search for the Blue Dream of their memories.

During last summer’s sun-grown road trip, I asked farmers what they were growing this season, and I heard from multiple people, “I have the original Blue Dream!” That sparked the beginning of an idea…

Will the REAL Blue Dream please stand up?

Come inside Budist Sessions: Blue Dream Tasting Party, a farm-to-table food and w**d tasting experience and comprehensive side-by-side flower tasting of the same cultivar.

Plus, the highest holiday of the year is this month! Celebration events are abundant. Below’s event roundup is just the start of an event-packed April. Don’t sleep on my 4/19 event, Mogu Magu presents Bad Asians, a Comedy & Tasting Show: 420 Edition with Jenny Yang. Live show in L.A. AND virtual livestream tickets available now.

Inside Blue Dream Tasting Party

A fully immersive Blue Dream experience with paired culinary bites by Chef Wendy Zeng inspired by the nuanced flavors and aromas of Blue Dream.

Described as a perfect hybrid of a blueberry strain and haze, its described as similar to blueberries or blueberry muffins. “With a perfumy funk in its aroma, a hit of Blue Dream evokes tastes of earth and sweet berries that’s instantly familiar,” describes author and journalist Ellen Holland.

Gardening Club

Last Sunday’s Seed Party & Workshop with Grow It From Home at Creature’s Plant & Coffee was so wonderfully wholesome and delightful! Newbies and longtime home growers gathered to learn about how to grow c*nn*bis at home from author Penny Barthell, Emily Gogol of Grow it From Home, and each other.

Some had never seen or touched a plant before. The runty, confused plant I brought for show-and-tell isn’t getting the correct light and it’s out of season, but everyone enjoyed smelling and touching the plant anyway. We all went home with a pocket full of seeds and native wildflower seed bombs.

Like w**d and gardening? Join the Weed Underground, a social club and meetup group in Northeast Los Angeles to connect st*ner gardeners in the neighborhood. Organized by Willy Christie who is an expert home grower, friend and fellow Cornerstoner. It’s free to join! Make friends and grow plants. Sign up for the email list. Get access to a private Discord community where you can interact digitally outside of in-person gatherings.
