Brr! It’s cold out here. Stay cozy with this recipe for high tea. Unlike many of the weed tea recipes out there this one uses NO oil, fat or sugar — just your favorite tea blend and an alcohol-based tincture. The small amount of alcohol will be evaporated and cooked off.
Other recipes use oil or butter, but who wants to drink oily tea? If you’re looking for a sugar and calorie-free way to get the benefits of cannabis without smoking, this fat-free cannabis tea recipe is a great one to try.

Cannabis Tea Recipe
DOSING:
1/4 teaspoon of cannabis tincture contains ~5mg. 1.75 grams of ~20% THC flower is used in this recipe for a total of ~250mg THC. There will be enough tincture for 12 cups of 5mg THC tea.
To increase your personal dose, simply add more tincture to your tea. 1/2 teaspoon for 10mg THC, 1 teaspoon for 20mg THC, etc. It is recommended to start at 5mg THC for beginners.
INGREDIENTS:
1 teabag or 1 teaspoon loose-leaf tea of your choice
1½ cups (12 oz.) water
¼ teaspoon, or desired amount, of cannabis tincture (recipe below)
Any other ingredients for flavor such as honey, milk, sugar, etc.
Cannabis tincture
1.75 grams cannabis flower (~20% THC), coarsely ground
¼ cup Everclear (or substitute 100 proof or higher vodka)
DIRECTIONS:
1. The day before, prep cannabis tincture: Preheat the oven to 240°F. Place 1.75 grams of coarsely ground cannabis flower into a small half-pint 8 oz. mason jar, seal with the lid to reduce smell, and heat for 40 minutes in the oven to decarb, which activates the THC. Remove from the oven and let cool until the mason jar is safe to touch. The ground flower will look lightly toasted. Pour ¼ cup of Everclear or 100-proof vodka into the mason jar, close the lid and shake hard to combine. Set aside and let the mixture sit overnight.
2. The next day: Shake the mason jar mixture and pour the liquid through a fine mesh sieve into another small mason jar, straining out the ground flower and reserving the liquid. Discard the grounds and label the jar: “¼ teaspoon = 5mg THC.” This cannabis tincture makes 12 servings for multiple cups of tea. Set aside—ideally up and away from little one’s reach—and shake well before each use.
3. Boil 1 cup of water in a small pot over medium heat. Once it’s boiling, shake the jar of cannabis tincture and add ¼ teaspoon of the cannabis tincture into the water. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes to cook off the alcohol. Water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a low enough temperature to preserve the THC, other cannabinoids, and nuanced terpenes and flavors of that strain.
4. Pour the boiling water with the cannabis tincture into a heat-safe mug with the tea bag or loose-leaf tea leaves, along with any desired extras like mint, lemon, honey, or a cinnamon stick. Steep for a couple of minutes. Remove the tea leaves, and enjoy a sip of homemade cannabis-infused tea. Wait at least 90 minutes to 2 hours for effects.

Recommended complementary teas for:
Nighttime and sleep (drink two hours before bedtime): chamomile, lemon balm, or lavender tea paired with relaxing strains high in myrcene, linalool, and caryophyllene.
Daytime and alertness, (drink with your morning breakfast routine): earl grey bergamot, English breakfast black tea, matcha, or chai tea paired with uplifting strains high in limonene and pinene. Similar to my cannabis coffee recipe that combines caffeine and cannabis for a productive high.

I love a warm soothing medicated matcha! Best way to wake-n-bake & let your lungs sleep in a bit...
Do you have to boil off the alcohol?
