Last Sunday I hosted “Gardening Class for Potheads” an after-hours educational plant party with Grow It From Home at Latinx With Plants. There were interactive workshops, lessons, a sampling lounge, and tamales!
Guests learned how to grow, asked questions, enjoyed the flower, and learned what to with it directly from Emily, the person who grew the seeds and plants.
We had so much fun that I thought you might enjoy the curriculum as well! So here you are my lovelies, everything a budding pothead gardener needs to know:

Practice makes perfect. Don’t get discouraged if it’s hard. Keep trying, ask people to show you how they roll, and you’ll figure out the best method for you.
Check out the tutorial below from Papers + Ink. This video on how to roll a joint by hand with Seth Rogen is a good one.

How to Make Edibles
Making your own at home is easier than you think, and will save you money. Delicious homemade gummies and infused treats are at your fingertips. To learn how, follow these step-by-step instructions.
“What type of c*nn*bis do I use for cooking and baking?”
Choose the right type of cannabis for your infusion and potency needs. There are a dizzying amount of options to choose from including flower, shake, trim, tinctures, hash, concentrates, rosin, RSO, ABV, distillate, and more. Let me break it down for you, and explain why you’d choose one over the other.
What is 🫖HC Decarboxylation + Activation?
What do these words mean? How much flower do I use? How do I figure out how potent it is? Will I get f***ed up? Can I skip this step? Am I doing it right? These are just some of the questions I struggled with as a new cannabis user and home baker.
“What can c*nn*bis be infused into?”
Wanna make ca**abis ice cream? Sip on homemade infused mocktails, fruit juice, and tea. How about spreading a layer of infused strawberry jam on a thick slice of w**d-infused bread?
Basic Recipes to Infuse C*nn*bis
These 4 basic recipes will make it possible to make anything c*nn*bis infused. From sweets to savory snacks, salves and skincare, you can easily make your own medicine at home.
How To Infuse C*nnabis Oil
THC loves fat. It doesn’t care what kind of fat, she likes it all. Butter, olive oil, duck fat, bacon grease, coconut oil, milk, and heavy cream are all excellent carriers for THC. Now imagine all the delicious foods that can be infused simply because THC binds to fat.
How to Make C*nn*bis Honey
FINALLY, it’s time to make cannabis-infused honey. I’ll share a holiday Baklava recipe in an upcoming post using this infused honey. If you’ve been following along in the DIY Edibles for Beginners series, we’ve made cannabutter, oil, milk, and alcohol tinctures.
How to Make a C*nn*bis Sugar
Last week’s recipe was a Strawberry Tangulu that used an infused alcohol-based tincture to dose the sugar syrup. Alternatively, the syrup can be made with c*nn*bis sugar instead of adding an alcohol tincture into the mixture. Infused sugar can be useful in recipes where there’s no fat or oil, like meringue, or used in cold or hot beverages like mocktails, tea or coffee.
How to Make a C*nn*bis Tincture
If you’re following the DIY Edibles for Beginners series, we’ve made cannabutter, oil, and milk – the three main carriers for infusing c*nnabis. This next method contains no fat and uses a solvent (alcohol) to extract the c*nna*is oil.
Gardening Class for Potheads was fun! I’m working another one in the fall for harvest season with a full day of programming. Stay tuned!
