What a TREAT to be invited to tour Kiva Confections’ production facility in Oakland, California, where they make their famous Camino, Lost Farm, Petra, Terra Bites, and chocolate bars. There’s no chocolate river or edible buttercups, but inside it’s pure imagination. 

In my former PR agency life, See’s Candies was a client and I went inside the iconic chocolate factory in Los Angeles on La Cienega Blvd. I’ve hand-dipped bonbons and speed packed boxes of chocolates… I’ll leave it to the professionals. The most memorable part was the smell of sweet, creamy chocolate that lingered in the air. 

As I stepped into Kiva and smelled the same aromatic Guittard chocolate, a wave of nostalgia and happy memories washed over me. I felt transported inside an episode of Food Network’s “Unwrapped” but instead of silver-haired host Marc Summers taking us behind-the-scenes of an iconic candy production factory, I’ll be your effervescent host on this sugar-filled w**d journey.
